This comprehensive car scratch repair tool set includes sandpaper and is designed to address light to medium scratches through a three-step process: sanding, rubbing compound application, and polishing, all facilitated by a drill attachment.
The inclusion of sandpaper in the 3M kit signifies a more aggressive approach – physically sanding down the clear coat to level out the scratch. While sanding can seem daunting, it’s often necessary for effectively reducing the appearance of moderate scratches.
Using the Trizact sandpaper with wet sanding technique made a noticeable difference on moderate scratches. While the sanding process initially dulled the paint, the subsequent buffing with rubbing compound and polish, using the drill attachments, restored the shine. Light scratches were completely eliminated, and moderate scratches became significantly less visible. Even deeper scratches showed improvement, although they remained somewhat noticeable.
The 3M Trizact kit proved to be the most effective car scratch repair tool in our test for addressing a range of scratch depths. However, it’s worth noting that the kit’s rubbing compound and polish are provided in non-resealable packets, limiting reusability. Additionally, the sandpaper pads are quite small, which can make them less efficient for larger areas and prone to wear. Rating: 7/10
