Keeping Verizon Moving: Your Role as a Fleet Mechanic

As a crucial part of our operations, you will play a vital role in maintaining our extensive fleet of vehicles. From cars and trucks to specialized equipment, you’ll ensure everything is in top working order, ready to support our mission of keeping America connected. This isn’t just about fixing vehicles; it’s about ensuring our teams have the reliable resources they need, day in and day out.

Your responsibilities will be diverse and engaging, including:

  • Comprehensive Vehicle Maintenance and Repair: You will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of a wide range of motor vehicles and specialized equipment within the Verizon fleet. This includes everything from routine servicing to complex repairs.
  • Specialized Equipment Expertise: Beyond standard vehicles, you’ll diagnose, maintain, and repair company-associated equipment such as aerial lifts, diggers, generators, and various tools. Your skills will ensure the operational readiness of all our equipment.
  • Advanced Diagnostic Techniques: Utilizing computer test equipment, you will accurately diagnose vehicle problems, ensuring efficient and effective repairs.
  • Direct Communication with Vehicle Users: You’ll interact with vehicle users to understand repair needs, answer questions, and provide guidance, fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Compliance and Safety Inspections: Performing OSHA, ANSI, emissions, and state inspections on company vehicles, you’ll ensure our fleet adheres to all safety and regulatory standards.
  • Continuous Professional Development: Maintaining and obtaining required certificates and licenses will be essential, with Verizon supporting your ongoing professional growth.
  • Flexible Work Schedule: Based on business needs, your role may require working evenings, weekends, holidays, and unscheduled shifts, offering variety and dynamism to your work schedule. The standard work tour hours are from 3 pm to 11 pm, Monday through Friday, with overtime as needed.

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

  • Extensive Mechanic Experience: A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience as a mechanic or in a relevant field, demonstrating a solid foundation of automotive knowledge and repair skills.
  • Commercial Driving Credentials: A CDL License or Commercial Learner’s Permit is necessary, with the requirement to obtain a full CDL within 6 months of hire, reflecting the operation of various types of fleet vehicles.
  • State Safety Inspection License: A RI State Safety Inspection License is preferred, or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire, ensuring compliance with state regulations.
  • Valid Driver’s License: A valid state driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record is essential.

For positions in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Maryland, Nevada, New York, Rhode Island, Washington, or Washington, D.C., the compensation range is between $754.00 and $2,063.50 weekly based on a full-time schedule.
